Catalyst for Commerce: ICTSI's Planned Bauan Terminal Aims to Spur Regional Economic Growth

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) has announced plans to build an international container terminal in Bauan, Batangas, with an estimated cost of $800 million. This project is a significant milestone in the country's maritime history and promises a new era of growth and opportunity for the region.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with the first berth expected to be completed by the end of 2027. The Bauan terminal will have a quay length of up to 900 meters and a capacity of over two million twenty-foot equivalent units per annum. It will be the second-largest container facility in the Philippines, after the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).

The location of the new terminal is strategically situated within a natural cove, and it is expected to catalyze economic development across Southern Luzon. The terminal's proximity to major expressways and ongoing infrastructure projects ensures seamless connectivity and accessibility, solidifying its position as a key player in global trade.
